Hard Upper Torso & Hatch Assembly

The lightweight composite Hard Upper Torso and Hatch was developed and manufactured for NASA Johnson Space Center for use with JSC’s in-house advanced spacesuit technology demonstrator (MK-III). Manufactured from carbon fiber, the MK-III HUT weights roughly 17 pounds and allows rigid mounting of the spacesuit’s Portable Life Support System (PLSS).

Carbon Composite Ankle Bearings

Manufactured from lightweight carbon composite, the Ankle Bearings are designed to augment the crew member’s mobility during EVA missions, reducing crew member stress and fatigue. It’s low-torque bearing design enables rotational mobility in both pressurized and unpressurized states.

Composite Glove Disconnect Bearing Assembly

The full-pressure Glove Disconnect Bearing assembly is manufactured from lightweight carbon fiber and features a highly reliable positive locking ring coupled to a very low torque sealed bearing. The locking ring design enables the wearer to easily connect or disconnect the gloves to/from the spacesuit unaided. The low-torque bearing enables effortless rotational mobility in both pressurized and unpressurized modes, thus minimizing crew member stress and fatigue.
